2016-2017 U16 Boys NCL Team-End of Season
Submitted By calin on Monday, June 12, 2017
This year, for the first time, our U16 boys entered the National Championship League (NCL).

The boys worked very hard this season, starting at the beginning of September, right through to the Eastern National Championships, at the end of April. Our first tournament in the fall was a bit of an eye-opener for our boys, but a good introduction to the high level of play in the league. Following their first experience against seasoned NCL level teams, the boys trained hard and were determined to increase their competitiveness in future games/tournaments. As the season progressed, the improvements were evident as we continued to put up victories against the teams we could beat and continuously narrowed the gap between ourselves and the stronger teams. These improvements made for a series of very exciting games towards the end of the season.

At the Eastern Nationals, the team played extremely well and just missed winning our final game which would have improved our place in the standings by one, compared to our position entering the weekend. Each athlete should be very proud of their improvements throughout the season and the physical and mental skills they developed this year will be their new foundation next year, when we start again in the fall. We look forward to seeing them continue to grow as athletes and young adults.
