KW INFERNO EXPLODES AT THE THOMPSON CUP!!!!
This past weekend our
U14 Group battled as three evenly matched teams at The Thompson Cup Tournament
held at McMaster University, Hamilton.
The event hosted 7 teams in total. It was an outstanding weekend of competitive games. The games between our KW teams offered some of the most entertaining matches resulting in a tie, a one goal game and a game with a marginal 3 goal spread. It was great to see the effort and passion the players competed with against their club mates, pushing everyone to their capabilities. The players truly gave all the parents a treat to watch!
KW Black finished as the Thompson Cup Champions with 6 straight victories against all their opponents! Way to go Black!!!!
KW Red finished in Silver position losing only to KW Black and drawing with KW Gold. Awesome!!
KW Gold finished in 4th position losing to Hamilton Co-ed in their final game by two goals. A few bounces our way and we would have swept the event!!! Great effort Gold!!!!
You should all be proud of your performances!!!
This event was a perfect opportunity for our graduating players to lead and mentor our intermediate players. As the weekend progressed you could watch the development in individual play but more importantly the team play amongst these newly formed teams. Our senior players were all tested to lead their teams but they were also forced to match up against the best players on the opposing teams. This created some great one on one battles and some creative zoning, which was a exciting to watch. All our players gave 110% in all games which was evident from the dislocated finger, broken toe and hyperextended shoulder on top of the regular bumps, bruises and scratches.
And what can we say about our Coaches……..18 games over two days!! A very sincere thank you to Coach Glen for his dedication, leadership and precise roster selections. Also a special thanks to Coach Stevie, Coach Aleah and Coach Marius for supporting Coach Glen on deck and providing many positive coaching tips to our players throughout the event!
