13U Kraken take 4th at March Madness
It was a full weekend of games for the 13U Kraken at the 2022 March Madness in Etobicoke, with a great start on Friday night.  The Kraken got underway with an 11 – 6 win against Hamilton! Three goals were scored by Claire, four by Pavle, a great assist by Claire and a goal each by Liam, Gabe, Raphael A. and Amanda. Eli had a couple of good blocks in the net and a strong defense made for a great game!

Saturday, the team faced the Mavericks squad who proved to be stronger and just a bit too much for our injured goalie. The Kraken showed great determination and rallied with multiple shots on net against the Mavs, with Claire, Gabe, and Liam burying 2 each.  In the end, the Kraken fell 18 - 6 to the Mavs.

But fear not!  The Kraken Krew didn't dwell on their disappointment for long.  They rallied, coming together for a stronger and more cohesive effort against Forest City. Two goals again were scored by Claire, Liam, and Pavle. Singles by Travis, Diana, Eli and Raphael A. AND it was a big night for Milo who not only scored his first EVER tournament goal – but he decided to bury two more for the Hat Trick!  Something tells me he was extra motivated...!  Final score Kraken 14 - Forest City 4!

Sunday afternoon saw the Krakens play for Bronze in their division against the Titans of Ottawa. The 13U bench was a bit shorter than usual as some players were loaned to the 15UGs for their Gold Medal Game that happened to be played simultaneously in the other end of the pool.  The Kraken had possession of the ball much of the time but just couldn’t hold on to it long enough, with the Titans proving to be a formidable adversary. Pavle sunk three, two for Darius and singles by Raphael A. and Travis.  In the end, the Titans topped the Kraken 14 - 7, but the entire team came out stronger for the experience they gained this weekend.  Thank you, parents and coaches!  It was great to see everyone at the pool again!!

We are all looking forward to the Titan's Cup next weekend in Ottawa and perhaps another crack at the hosts, this time in their own pool.
