May 12 - 14.
Ivor Wynne Centre pool at McMaster and the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford. 13U Provincial tournament. KW Kraken. Teams from all over southern Ontario. Culmination of an incredible level of improvement. Excellent and dedicated coaches. All this resulted in a well-earned 3rd place against very tough competition, especially in the medal round.
Two victories on Friday (Mavericks 2 and Hamilton) and a tie on Saturday (Mavericks 1) had us advance to the medal round, where we lost to two very strong teams: Shadow and Capital Wave 1. The scores were close, which made us parents - cheering loudly with green pom poms in hand (thanks to Gwen Read) - very proud.
Congratulations 13U! What an excellent season! We look forward to what you guys bring to the pool next year!
And…in advance of the parent-kid game (to be played the day after the composition of this report). The kids tried hard, but were not able to overcome the raw talent and endurance exhibited by the parent team, as the parents easily won against the 13U kids. Better luck next year!
