This past weekend our 16U girls and the 16U
girls from Forest City partnered up for the March Madness invitational
hosted by Mavericks Water Polo.
The
girls had an early start on Friday with our first game against Shadow.
Our girls kept them at bay for the first period but Shadow pulled ahead
in the 2nd and never looked back. Our second game on Friday was against
Capital Wave and the girls came out strong, leading in the first and
kept going to secure their first win. One win and one loss put us second
in our pool, which put us in the top 4 teams competing for a medal in
another set of round robin games.
Saturday the medal round robin
series began with a game against Tiburon. Once again the girls showed
their resilience and grit and pulled out a win.
Sunday came with a rematch against
Shadow, where once again they proved to be a skilled competitor. Our
girls played hard but ultimately lost (we'll get them next time!!). Our
final game was against the combination Mavs + CAMO team. The girls were
happy to play against some old teammates from Montreal, but couldn't
quite pull together enough to beat them.
All in all, the girls played well
and kept spirits high against some really tough competition. The final
win/loss tally in the medal rounds secured them a bronze medal in the
tournament.
Congratulations girls!!
