18UG South Central Stingrays win Bronze at Eastern Nationals
Athletes from KW, London and Hamilton join forces as the South Central Stingrays and compete in 18U NCL tournaments. This year the girls have become a formidable team and that showed this weekend during the 18U Eastern National competition at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.
The weekend started out a bit slow with a loss to Shadow in the first game, but the girls rallied to beat Titans on Friday afternoon, earning a second place ranking in their pool.
Saturday brought on the quarter finals where they played Tiburon and won, securing their qualification for Nationals in Calgary in June! On to the semi finals where the girls never gave up, but lost to CAMO placing them in the race for Bronze on Sunday.
Sunday brought a rematch with our friends from Shadow in the bronze medal game. it was a game with 2 strong competitors, but ultimately the girls put their teamwork and grit on display to pull off the win.
In addition to capturing the Bronze medal, Maddie Watson (Forest City Water Polo) and Evie Carr (Hamilton Water Polo) made the 18U all star team and Maddie was also the lead scorer across all the girls teams this weekend! Special congratulations to these wonderful ladies who captain the team and inspire so many girls.
Congratulations to the 18U South Central Stingrays for winning the Bronze medal, and good luck at Nationals!
