Our
U14 Competitive Co-ed team participated in the Gatineau Cup hosted by the Club
Water Polo Gatineau, their first tournament following the new FINA rule of 5
players + goalie.
There were a total of 8 teams participating, four from Montreal (CASO, DDO, CAEM and Melapart), our host Gatineau team and three teams from Ontario (KW Inferno and two Ottawa Titans teams). Our U14 team had an excellent show being defeated only by the tournament winner CASO. After placing the second in their group by winning against one of the Ottawa Titans team (24 – 9) and against Gatineau (18 – 5), KW Inferno won in the groups cross-over against the first place of the other group DDO team (16 – 4). We had our second chance against the CASO team in the final game where we were leading the first three quarters but ended up going home with silver medals.
