Since KW Kraken didn’t have enough eligible girls to enter a U15 team in the Eastern Nationals, a number of players were “loaned out” to CAMO from Montreal.
This hearkens back to the tradition where parents would send their children out to work, so that they might contribute to the overall family income. Unfortunately, this arrangement did not have a similar financial benefit for the families involved. Fortunately, it more than made up for the cost in terms of the connections made between and among the kids from different provinces - and in some cases language - and the entertaining water polo witnessed throughout the weekend.
With the help of our KW Kraken athletes, CAMO roared through the round robin with a perfect record, even defeating the Mavericks in a closely-contested affair. Unfortunately, the final - also against the Mavericks and also a closely-contested affair - did not end up in our favour, as CAMO lost 11-9.
Congratulations girls! Earning silver is an amazing accomplishment and the connections you created with the CAMO players made this old observer proud.
Also in the 15U Eastern Nationals Reid and Nikita played for Hamilton where out of the five games they played they won two games and dropped three with the last game ending in shootouts.
Here’s to a great 15U season!
