Hello All Inferno Families,

Let's Celebrate!!!! We just had an UNBELIEVEABLE weekend of water polo!!!!!!

U16 Boys coloured BRONZE and U16 Girls coloured GOLD and man o'man you all wear it well!!!

Oh...where do we start.....?

Our U16 Boys team went 2 and 2 through the Round Robin nearly missing the Gold medal game by only two goals versus Ottawa Titans.  This was an impressive record given the parity amongst the U16 OWP Boys teams this year.  All our boys played their hearts out while in the pool which advanced the team to the Bronze Medal Game versus Capital Wave.  The team dominated the Bronze medal game with a commanding 16-2 victory!  You made us all very proud!!!

Our U16 Girls team went undefeated through the Round Robin to advance to the Gold medal game versus their arch rivals, the Mavericks.  Our Girls came out strong and only got stronger and stronger each quarter of the Gold medal match - finishing as the unquestioned champions with a 15-6 win!!!  Your hard work in training this year has paid huge dividends with the U16 Provincial Champion Banner!!!  AWESOME!!!!

Individually there are some special achievements that should be acknowledged:

The following players were awarded game all-star status throughout the championship:

  • Brodie Schiller (2)
  • Blake Fowler (3)
  • Ben Parent (2)
  • Michael Djurdjevic (1)
  • Tori Wilson (2)
  • Darcy Simmons (2)
  • Madeline Welsman (2)
  • Isidora Terpenka (1)
  • Taylor Barker (1)

The following players received the extraordinary honours:

  • Brodie Schiller - named to the Championship All-Star Team.
  • Darcy Simmons - named to the Championship All-Star Team.
  • Taylor Barker - named to the Championship All-Star Team.
  • Madeline Welsman - named the Most Valuable Goalie for the Championship
  • Tori Wilson - named to the Championship All-Star Team and was also named Most Valuable Player for the Championship!

Way to go Inferno players....your accomplishments are exceptional and we are so very proud of you!

Special Thanks has to go to:

  • Our U14 players who joined the U16 rosters for this event.  Your support helped achieve these victories - Thank you!!! (Minos, Mason, Tessa, Sarah and Tobi).  This was a great event for you to cut your teeth for next year!
  • Our committed and ever giving volunteers who were essential to make this event happen.  This is a very intense and critical weekend where volunteer performance really matters.  Our on deck volunteers were up for the challenge with a virtually seamless execution of 20 games and full medal presentations (Tom, Dan, Julio, Luis, Glen, Jeff, Patrick, Calin, Ryan, and Stevie).  As always, the officials, coaches and delegates were treated to a very generous hospitality suite organized by our volunteers (Heidi, Dawna, Ramona, Maggie x2, Joyce and Tanya) and contributed to by our U16 families - thank you for your donations.
  • Our Coaches (Max, Ricardo, Paul, Chloe, Casey) ..... We really have to tip our hats to your success!!!  We hope you take a minute to revel in these victories as they are largely due to the efforts, drive and commitment you have delivered since the beginning of the season.  The medals today are as much yours as your players that played their hearts out for you and their team this weekend!!!

Congratulations to the entire U16 group (Players, Coaches, Parents and Volunteers)!!!  Let's Celebrate - Cheers!!!
