12U - At Paul Taylor Memorial Tournament
This past weekend, KW Kraken’s 12U division went on to play in their first tournament of the season, at the annual Paul Taylor Memorial Tournament in Toronto. For the young 12U team, this tournament was an excellent, and competitive experience, in which a great deal of learning, and self / team improvement occurred. If one were to ask anyone who’d watched all their games throughout the weekend on how our group of 12U’s played, it’s almost guaranteed they’ll tell you that with each game, they got better and better!

Although the competition was tough, in our player’s minds, every game was a new starting point, and they approached each one with a positive outlook, determination and perseverance to do the best they could. What really made them stand out in the pool from one game to the next however, was their ability to adapt to each team they versed, and learn from the difficulties of their previous game experiences.

Alongside their improvement, it was undeniable that our 12U’s really enjoyed their time in the pool. When asking them before the first game how they were feeling, many gave responses of indifference or nervousness, but by our final game, when the 12U’s were asked again, you’d be hard-pressed to find a player who didn’t have a smile on their face, telling us about all the fun they had playing throughout the tournament.

For our first tournament weekend of the season, the 12U’s came out a success in their own merit, with a ton of personal growth as players and as a team. It’d be wise if everyone kept an eye out for our 12U’s as they move forward through the season, for they’ll definitely be quite the force to be reckoned with by June at their current pace in progress!

A special thanks again to parents for all the support they provide for our 12U players, and for the time they’d invested over the weekend, and a final thanks to my fellow coach Dora Graonic, for all her help over the weekend.
