Eastern National Championships - Day 2
Submitted By Calin Dragoiescu on Sat 04 23, 16
Another OUTSTANDING day of water polo at the U14 Eastern National Championships for KW Water Polo!!!!

The Boys team started the day with their quarter final match versus the Ottawa Titans.  This match was back and forth for the duration with the deciding goal coming from KW in the very last second (0.8 to be precise) of regulation time resulting in a 5-4 victory for our boys!!  This advanced them to a semi-final match versus the Ontario League champs - Mavericks.  Our boys battled hard in this game keeping pace with the Mavericks until the 3rd quarter.  The Mavericks opened up a 6 goal lead in the 3rd but our boys did not give up clawing back to a 11-8 score before time ran out.  Great effort boys!!!  All the best with your Bronze Medal match on Sunday.

Our girls earned a quarter final bye from their round robin play so they only had one match to play today....but it was a critical challenge which would earn them a spot in the gold medal match. They faced off against the defending ENC Champions, Capital Wave,  who had defeated the Mavericks in their quarter final match.  Our girls jumped out to an early lead (4-0) with tenacious offence in the first half.  The girls put on an impressive defensive display in the second half only allowing 1 goal closing up the game with a 4-1 victory advancing the Girls to the Gold Medal game. AWESOME!

For anyone wanting to take in some exciting water polo tomorrow;

  • The KW Boys will compete for the Bronze Medal at 1:00 pm
  • The KW Girls will battle for the Gold Medal at 2:20 pm.

All games are being played at the Etobicoke Olympium (590 Rathburn Rd.)
