Capital Wave Festival Tournament
Submitted By Calin Dragoiescu on Sun 01 29, 17
This year at the 2nd Annual Capital Wave Festival Tournament we had a U12 Coed team and a U14 Girls team competing in their respective divisions.

The weekend offered a very favourable drive to the Ottawa region and a friendly schedule.

The U12s dropped their first two games vs the Mavericks on Friday evening and Shadow on Saturday morning before turning the tides and defeating Hydra and Capital Wave in their next two bouts. Their 2 and 2 record earned them the Bronze medal. There were lots of proud smiles found with the players and their families. Great work Team!!

The U14 girls competed in a division with the Mavericks and two Capital Wave teams (one U14 team and a  U16‎ team).   The girls started out with a see-saw battle with the Mavericks narrowly defeating them by a score of 7-6. Next they faced the U16 Capital Wave Team. They could not buy a goal until  the 4th quarter when they broke the shut out and added another, suffering a 7-2 loss. They dominated their 3rd game defeating the U14 Capital Wave Team. They faced Mavericks in the semi-final and won convincingly 8-3 which put them in the gold medal game vs the U16 Capital Wave girls.   They played an excellent game but fell short with a 6-3 loss. Our girls were still awarded the gold medal as this was sanctioned as a U14 event and the U16 girls offered up and presented  the medals to our team. Very classy.

A sincere thanks to Coach Glen and Coach  Aleah for their guidance and support on the weekend. Their commitment is greatly appreciated by all.
