A Golden Inferno Blazes Once More!
Submitted By calin on Sunday, May 28, 2017
Split into two teams, Black and Gold, our U12 players (some even younger) battled through four intense matches each, in this past weekends London U12 Provincials.

Coming home bathed in golden flames, our KW Gold team managed to claw their way through two final round-robin games and grab the gold medal title they so yearned for all season. Each game becoming tighter than the former, they mustered up a great fight in their final game against Shadow, ending in a gripping 5 – 5! However, as a result of their deserving victory in the previous match against Hamilton in the round-robin, they were crowned provincial champions, and the first U12 team our club has ever had officially bring back said title. As some ascend to the U14 division next season, we all watch in anticipation to see where these talented athletes may go, and hope their fires burn brighter with each passing season!

Our Black team, coals not quite sparked into full flame, went head to head with a number of older, more skilled teams. After facing a couple blowout games in their rocky start, they too proved that they can be quite the adversaries in the water, with each game they played getting visibly better and better. Their final match of the tournament against Mavericks Red became the tightest game they’d play all weekend, with the team managing to triple their highest game score this season! To see these players’ development over the past two days was quite the treat for all in attendance, and with a bit more prodding for these hot coals, they too shall become a great ‘Inferno’ in the pool!

A final congratulation to all the athletes who’d attended the 2017, U12 London Provincials, with an enormous round of applause to our head coach, Glen Keelan, for his work, time, and dedication to the sport and these athletes, and for making this weekend possible. Our gratitude also extends to the assistant coach, Adrian Dragoiescu, who’d helped out on deck for the entirety of the tournament.
