12U Provincial Championships
The 2017-2018 Water Polo season came to a close this past weekend with the Provincial Championships held at WLU. KW Inferno entered two teams into the field of 10, playing against teams from Ottawa, Etobicoke, Hamilton, Scarborough, and London.
KW1 was made up of primarily older players from the club. They played a great mix of teams in the round robin, winning two and losing two. In the finals, it was an intense game against Hamilton, with KW1 coming out ahead, but with a medal just out of reach. Overall, they played very well, displaying strong swimming skills, great passing and some great shots on net.
KW2 was made up primarily of our younger and newer players this year. They took the opportunity to gain valuable experience playing against teams with a variety of skill levels and winning one of their round robin games. The team has shown incredible growth in skills, knowledge and strategy over the season. With the older players on another team they had to learn to rely on each other quickly and did a great job holding back the opposition, moving the ball up the pool and having several players gain goalie experience against some more experienced teams. There were proud smiles all around with each successful play.
Thank you to all of our coaches for a great season and developing all of our players. Thank you to all of the parents for supporting and encouraging our athletes all season through many practices and tournaments and for all of your volunteer time and help to make our tournaments successful. And finally, thank you to our wonderful group of athletes who worked hard together all year building skills, encouraging each other and growing together.
