The KW
Kraken 14U Girls started the annual Paul Taylor Memorial Tournament bright and early Saturday morning in Etobicoke tackling Team Saskatchewan. It was the first official game of the season and our girls tested the waters to get their momentum going.
Our spirit remained intact with a closer than the score would indicate loss of 14-7. But fear not, this momentary defeat gave the girls inspiration to display our Kraken powers against a provincial rival in the next match.
A few short hours later, Saturday afternoon provided us the opportunity to show the Shadow of Scarborough that our Krakens had ample amounts of energy in reserve and handily won with a score of 12-5. The momentum continued into the evening with our final game of the day against Hamilton. This game demonstrated the strength, skill, and stamina of our girls and their exemplary teamwork, resulting in a staggering 20-3 victory.
Sunday morning brought out our last challenger, the Mavericks of Etobicoke. Enthusiasm and excitement carried over for our Krakens from Saturday, as they toppled the mighty Mavericks 15-2 with authority.
This strong finish in round robin play, allowed the 14U Kraken girls to move onto the Gold Medal Game. Waiting for them in the rematch was their earlier foe, the Team Saskatchewan. With an abundance of passion, and grit our Kraken girls fell to a superior squad from the West 12-3. However they took the loss in stride remembering that it is a long season, and the Paul Taylor Memorial Tournament was a spectacular start to it.
Thanks to all our awesome parents and coaches for supporting the Kraken Krew this weekend in Etobicoke.
Prepare to Unleash the Kraken again December 1st and 2nd at the Annual KW Winter Classic!!
