The KW Kraken 14U Girls captured gold, in their second tournament of the year, at the KW Winter Classic.
The fun started started Saturday morning with our match up against Shadow of Scarborough. Shadow was down a few players and with honourable sportsmen like style, the Kraken Krew loaned two players to their squad. Special mention to Christina and Elyse who volunteered to help Shadow complete their bench so the game could actually happen. The first battle was won with a score of 15 to 6.
Our next rival was Mavericks from Etobicoke. The girls continued to demonstrate their skill and strength of teamwork. The excitement continued as two Maverick players were evicted from the game during the third quarter. Kraken Girls continued to show their generous sportsmanship skills and continued to play the remainder of the game based on 5 on 5 players. The game ended with a win for the home town favourite with a score of 14 to 7.
Sunday morning brought fresh legs to both benches for both Kraken Girls and the squad from Hamilton. Dominating the morning, Kraken left the pool with a victory of 18 to 1 and were headed to the afternoon gold medal game.
In the gold medal matchup, the Kraken Krew met the Mighty Mavericks for their last game on Sunday afternoon. They persevered with grit and determination. The Kraken were unleashed and won the gold medal game with authority beating the Mavericks 11-4.
Fantastic effort put forward all weekend by the 14UG Kraken Krew! Special thanks again to all our amazing parents for supporting our girls and their extra contribution this weekend hosting the Annual KW Winter Classic.
Special mention to our amazing coaches for the skills they are developing with our 14UG, includng their mentorship regarding sportsmanship.
